Communication is the backbone of our society. It allows us to form connections, influence decisions, and motivate change. Without communication skills, the ability to progress in the working world and in life, itself, would be nearly impossible. Students in the Applications of Speech class will learn about and practice the various use cases for public speaking such as interviews, presentations, debate, sales pitches and after dinner speeches. The class will prepare students to excel in real world scenarios.

Class Content
The Applications of Public Speaking class is all about the real world uses of public speaking. Students who enroll in this class already have a good understanding of public speaking and will have the chance to learn about how to best utilize their skills in different scenarios. Classes will focus on use cases like interviews, presentations, debate, sales pitches, after dinner speeches, and case competitions. Students will be taught about effective strategies to use and will have the chance to demonstrate and practice these skills through mock interviews, practice presentations and other forms of speech practice. The class will prepare students to excel using the powers of public speaking.
