A study by Fidelity Investments found that 88% of millionaires today are self-made. The Public speaking in business class is meant for students who are interested in learning about the world of entrepreneurship and will equip them with the necessary skills to express themselves and their ideas to others. 

Class Syllabus

The Public Speaking in Business class (DECA style) is open for all students in Grade 8 and above who are interested in business or would like to work on their public speaking skills.

This course will also prepare students to participate in their school's DECA clubs and will also help students who plan to enter or are already in DECA clubs to improve their speaking skills.

The semester will be divided into three areas of focus: 

1. Public Speaking, Logic and Argumentation

Public speaking is an important skill in any business setting. Entrepreneurs must be able to articulate their thoughts and convince others of their ideas. Students will learn how to present, speak of in front of a judge and participate in speech drills to improve their speaking skills. The coach will provide them in-depth feedback to assist them in this process. 

2. Principals of Business

How do you build a successful business? How do business operations and planning work? 

Students will be introduced to the fundamental of the business world like marketing theory, business operations, how to set up companies and basic accounts management. Through real-life examples of renowned companies like Apple and IBM, they will be taught the ins and outs of business. 

3. Business Pitch Presentations

Students will take a deep dive into the world of entrepreneurship by creating their own business pitch. Working with the instructor, they will perform market research to come up with a viable business product and plan which they will present in a live session to a panel of accomplished entrepreneurs. The invited guests will be able to provide students with feedback on the pitches based on their own experience in the business world.

本学期将分为三个重点领域： 


1.  公共演讲、逻辑和论证

在任何商业环境中，公开演讲都是一项重要技能。企业家必须能够表达自己的想法，并说服他人接受自己的观点。学员将学习如何在评委面前展示和演讲，并参加演讲练习，以提高演讲技巧。在此过程中，教练将为他们提供深入的反馈意见。

2.  商业原则

如何建立成功的企业？企业运营和规划如何进行？

学生将了解商业世界的基本原理，如市场营销理论、商业运作、如何成立公司和基本账目管理。通过苹果和 IBM 等知名公司的真实案例，他们将了解到商业的来龙去脉。



3.  商业演讲

学生将通过制作自己的商业演讲深入了解创业世界。在老师的指导下，他们将进行市场调研，提出可行的商业产品和计划，并在现场向有成就的企业家小组进行展示。受邀嘉宾将根据自己在商界的经验，为学生提供有关商业计划的反馈意见。
